hello everyone welcome back to my channnel this is mac and today we're going to be working on a 2018 Honda Civic and we're actually going to be changing several things so I'll have uh couple of videos coming out on this I'm going to break them down in sections but we're going to be doing the left brake uh left uh and right front brakes and also on the left side we'll be doing the um ABS sensor replacing that and also the left uh sway bar link um so we'll have a couple of different videos coming out for that but on this video purposes we're going to be doing the brakes we're going to be doing the front brakes and uh we'll show you how to do that all right now we're getting ready to do the the brakes here uh you're going to want to take this one off which is a 12 and then down here that's a 12 and then your whole caliper should pull right off you probably won't need that long extension yeah [Applause] [Music] take there should be two one at the top one at the bottom man I think tight ain't it look like it's glued on should you might have to cuz it's got pressure on it you might have to take like a a big screwdriver and put in here and kind of pop it pop it off you got to oh I think that's going to be big enough yeah put that up on there there you go or right in here I'm sorry right in here yeah yeah cuz that's the bracket we'll have to take that off there you go yeah just slide them suckers off just like that there we go there we go put that out your way okay so we we don't need to take this bracket off because the uh brake pad holders just slide right in there like that and uh pull that one out yeah see they just pop right in and out there there you go now what we're going to do to get the new ones to fit I've got a C clamp we're going to put on there and squeeze that piston in there and uh that way we won't open the line up and get air in there and we won't have to bleed it but if you uh if you were to open this line up on that uh little nipple there and let fluid out to squeeze that down you're going to get air in there then you got to bleed them and we're not going to do that so I'm going to show you a trick hold that right there put one of the old brake pads in there there you go and then take that C clamp no like yeah oh yeah like that and then put that on there there you go to hold it for you there you go and then squeeze that down it should just squeeze right in there I used one of the old ones that probably still had a lot of life on it see you can see it going in there there you go just take that down flush that's probably good and you uh I I put the old one on there just to hold the C clamp and then that's what we do right there and that way we don't open the system up we don't get air in there and we do not have to uh bleed the brakes put that up to all right there we go got them just po back down in there like that make sure they're seated good on this part right here make sure that they're seated good there we go them being there they're probably probably going to be a tight fit I would put the bottom one in there you go oh that might be hdden I don't think that that might go in the back side yeah you can see how it fits in that channel there and then there though don't uh where's the one that had the yeah don't use the one that's got the indicator on there cuz it hits It's hit in the bar there so don't use that I think it goes on the back side uh so don't use the one that's got that right there that thing yeah cuz it hits there anyway we got that seated we're going to put that this one here on the back side yeah those little tabs fit kind of tight in that bracket cuz they're new so you just got to kind of wiggle it and down in there so we got the back one in there yeah those new clips you really got to press that in there hard and and wiggle it back and forth to kind of spread out these uh new clips a little bit to get it to fit in there so it's it it takes a little Force to kind of get it in there and then uh we got to put these funny looking things on there how many breaks that I've worked on I've never seen that before that's crazy I don't even know what that is but anyways that's weird I've done a lot of breaks and never seen that all right now did take that and that should just slide hopefully over in there there we go you got you probably had to oh hold it before we do that take that off you want to make sure that these move back and forth really good in fact I like to just take them out uh pull that rubber back there you go pop that out yeah I like to look at this piston here and uh cuz all that that all that old grease will get kind of gummy and if that don't slide back and forth easy then your uh your your brakes and your caliper uh could stick a little bit and cause the brake pads to rub I've had that happen several times so I always pull these out and I always clean them and put a little bit just a little bit don't take much uh a little bit of Grease back on here and put them back in there so I'm going to do that and clean them up real good but some new lubricant on there and put them back in there okay so we've got both of them clean you can see how they've move real freely and pop back out that's what they should do make sure the stuff gets all up in there real good let's make sure that they're there you go all righty now we can put that new C on there you have to yeah you have to push them in push them in to get them to line up there you go see that little tab right there get that turned there you go should line yeah there you go make sure that other one is lined up like that get that bolt in there have to wiggle might have to pull the uh caliper move the caliper around you got it yep okay we got that uh finished um actuated the brakes turned it everything seems good nothing's binding so we're going to go ahead and do the right side right side same as the left and we'll get through we'll do a little test drive everything should be good all right I hope this video helped uh on the brakes if it uh if it did leave me a comment down there and uh there's something I didn't do right or could do better let me know I don't mind criticism so uh just leave me a comment I like I like to reading comment especially if it help people makes me feel good so uh hit that like button hit that subscribe button don't cost anything subscription the Subscribe button will uh give you notifications on other videos got coming out and uh plus it give me a little pocket chains for some coffee so I appreciate it and hope you all have a southern blessed day
